CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />PROPANE SURVEY SUINWARY <br />PAGE POUR <br />Seven of the 10 respondents indicated they used a private firm <br />to install the conversion kits, two used a private installer, as <br />well as their own mechanics, and one respondent indicated they <br />were doing all of the work themselves. <br />Perhaps the most significant- piece of• information gleaned from <br />these surveys was the fact that of the eight respondents having <br />had experience with or presently using both dual fuel and straight <br />systems, five recommended the use of straight propane systems <br />stating the following reasons: <br />1. A vehicle cannot be fine tuned to run on gasoline and <br />iropa,ia buLh, and, consequently, the vehicle does not <br />operate at peak efficiency on either. <br />2. Cual fuel systems require a higher degree of maintenance, <br />particularly in the replacement of gaskets. <br />3. Improved exhaust emissions from a straight propane system <br />has allowed for the removal of pollution control devices <br />relieving engine heat and improving performance. <br />1 <br />• <br />
