MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
MAY 17, 1984
PAGE TWO
9. As a result of his attendance at a recent seminar in San
Antonio, Texas Chief Ramacher is developing proposals for
consideration by the Civil Service Commission to update
the Department's operating rules and regulations. As a
result of the recent adoption of State Legislation regarding
Comparable Worth, any progress towards coordinating the
Departments non -union Position Descriptions with those
contained in the City's Salary Administration Performance
Review Program are a moot point until the mandated studies
are performed.
10. Chief Ramacher has as previously stated attended a seminar
in San Antonio, Texas as well as attending State Police
Chiefs Conventions, however, I would encourage further
efforts to refine his skills.
It should be pointed out that during the last three months
departmental workloads have, for a variety of reasons, been
significant and Chief Ramacher has had to assume a very active
role in the investigation process which has limited his ability
to address these first year goals, however, I would be remiss
in not pointing out that the progress he has made in his first i
six months has resulted in significant and positive modifications
to the Department's operation.
RECOMMENDATION;
Staff recommends Council approval of this review and the $500.00
per year increase, retroactive to May 14, 1984, previously agreed
upon successful completion of the first six months of the
probationary period.
i
