Anderson Director <br />Parks, Recreati d Forestry <br />DATE: November 8, 1985 , <br />RE: 198')-86 Goal» <br />The following is an update of our department's status regarding <br />the tour Park and kecreatiun quals that wurr rstahlished for our <br />department and the Park and Recreation Commission: <br />1. Priority 46 - Park and Recreation Commission Task Force, i.e. <br />rejuvenate commission. As you are aware, a formal task force <br />has been appointed by the Mounds View City Council and we <br />scheduled our first meeting on Thursday, November 7, 085. <br />It is anticipated that this cask force will complete its task <br />as outlined no latar than December 16, 1985. <br />2. Priority 08 - Park development and playground equipment, <br />Groveland Park tennis courts, planting more trees and at- <br />tracting more kids and people. staff has been actively pur- <br />suing this goal during the past year and we have accomplished <br />the following during 1985: <br />a. We have completed the cunbtCuction Of Gree.n.fielei Park <br />through a 1985 L.A.W.C.O.N. grant. Specific improvements <br />include the construction of approximately 4800 lin. ft. <br />of bituminous and limestone :rail, baseball field, bitu- <br />minous entrance road and parking lot, twin lit tennis <br />courts, storm sewer extension, culvert extension, and <br />basketball/tennis court bangboard area. <br />b. In addition, we completed the installation of new pray <br />ground equipment at Groveland Park, and we cecained two <br />college students to pain, and 'rehab' playground equip- <br />ment at each of the neighorhood park sites, <br />c. We also regraded Random Park to improve the drainage and <br />treat a berm on the eastern half of the property. In <br />addition, we planted additional trees throughout the <br />site. <br />
