Picnic and free play - Ctaff would recommend that $30,000 be <br />allocated for picnic and free play space which would go for <br />the purchase of picnic tables, barbecue grills and general <br />site amenities includinq trash barrels and bike racks. This <br />is difficult catagory to define and is based (in the purchase <br />of an additional 140 picnic tables at $150 each, 20 new <br />grills at $200 each, 10 bike racks at $200 each and 5 drink- <br />ing fountains at $1,000 each. <br />D. Bike and walking trails - Staff proposes that the original <br />bike trail system as outlined in the comprehensive parks and <br />open space plan be retained in its entirety which would <br />include a total cost for off road trail improvements of <br />$159,425 for the construction of bike trails which would com- <br />plete the proposed City bike and walking trail system- <br />E. Site amenities - Staff would recommend that the parking lot <br />at Silver View Park be blacktopped at a cost of $80,000 which <br />would includes concrete curb and gutter. In addition, staff <br />would recommend that security lightinq he placed in neighbor- <br />hood parks along the trail system at a cost of $60,U00 and <br />trash barrels should be purchased in the amount of S4,O00, <br />for each of the neighborhood parks. <br />F. Play areas - Staff would recommend that new play areas De <br />developed at City Hall Park - $25,000, Silver View Park - <br />$35,000, Hillview Park - $20,000, Woodcrest Park - $10,000, <br />Lambert Park - $8,000, Oakwood Park - $10,000, Greenfield <br />Park - $25,000. These figures would entail using a great <br />deal of our exiting playground cquipmpnt and would be a siz- <br />able reduction from the proposed level of $491,700 as out- <br />lined by the consultant. It should also be noted that we <br />will be using a great deal of in-house labor to telocae our <br />existing equipment. <br />G. Softba_l/baseball development - Staff would recommWndhthat <br />the two softball fields at Silver View Park, along <br />the <br />soccer fields, be lit at a cost of $76,225. <br />H. Tenris courts - Staff would recommend the construction of two <br />lit tennis courts at Groveland Park at a cost of $50,000. <br />I.
