MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: CLERK -ADMINISTRATOR
DATE.: FEBRUARY 24, 1986
SUBJECT: OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN BIDS/PROPOSAL
As you will recall, on January 9th Gie Pity received bids
for the relocation of our two 110 lb. outdoor warning sirens
and the installation of a 124-126 db. siren. At that time
we received 5 proposals from 3 companies as follows:
1. Electric Service Co. Relocation: $ 5,492.00
A.C.A. Penetrator 10 Installation: $10,850.00
516,342.00
2. Lehn Electric 4A. Relocation: $ 5,395.00
Federal Thunderbolt Installation: S11 195.00
19,8
1B. Relocation: S 5,395.00
Federal Thunderbeam Installation: 11,100.00
$16,495.00
3. Corrigan Electric #A.
Federal Thunderbolt
#B.
Relocation: S 4,350.00
Installation: 10,650.00
15,0
install 2
Thunderbeams
to Replace
Current
Equipment $18,500.00
After receiving the proposals staff checked all references
as to performance of equipment and contractor. All of the
references contacted provided positive recommendations
regarding the contractors. Also, those references having
bcth Thunderbolt and Thunderbeam sirens were clear in their
preference for the Thunderbeam as it required less
maintenance and was more vandal proof as it has no
equipment on the lower portion of the pole easily accessible
to vandals.
After developing this information and concluding the
Thunderbeam was more desireable, staff contacted the low
bidder, Corrigan Electric, to determine the cost for
installation of 1 Thunderheam with relocation of existing
equipment and see if the hid for I Thunderheams could he
reduced.
