Thvrefore, Staff has
tentatively agreed to remove the language from
the uniform allowance provision that payment he
made on a voucher basis thou: allnwirol for a cash
payment at the beginning of each year to each
uniformed officer being a member of the Union.
S. The final contract change tentativoly agreed to was
to increase the language in the contract regarding a
dental insurance option to allow in employee to use
$10.00 ut tho $I6S.0U "lixlmUlll iow- rnntrtbutiun
for purposes of purrhasinq dental insurance
coverage. This provision was accepted on the basis
that it would not cost the rite additional funds and
dental insurance cl,voraq., for singlt• lmlivillu.tl.; l.:
now costing between $15.00 and $20.00 per month.
Considering all of the issue, that were discussed during the
negotiating process and the risks that we would take in
going to arbitration on some of the issues that were
bargained away by reaching other agreements such as the
uniform allowance provision, it was felt that this
settlement would be the least costly option to the City as
well as being within budgetary allowances and would allow us
to reach a settlement on the contract in a timely fashion.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff would recommend Council authorize
preparation of a resolution accepting the provisions of a
Labor Agreement between Teamsters Local 320 and the City of
Mounds View as outlined above.
Dt• P/m j s
`nr
