2 - <br />NATURAL/ENVIRaNMENTAL GOALS AND POLICIES <br />Goal 4: Provide adequate protection through land vse development <br />policy to maintain the environmental balance between natural and <br />man-made physicalfeatures and insure against property loss or <br />deterioration of property values. <br />Pol1Cy: xestrict or regulate expansion of any existing <br />development where environmental damage may unintentionally <br />result. <br />Goal 5: Preserve and protect the quality of Mounds View's natural <br />vegetation against diaease and unnecessary destruction. <br />Policy: Continue and/or establish programs desiqned <br />to proiect Mounds View's Oak and Elm trees throuqh <br />disease control measures. <br />Policy: Continue and/or establish proqrams desiqned to <br />replace diseased trees, and trea losa due to conatruction <br />or natural causes, with a variety of tree species. <br />Goal 6: Provide protection of areas of significant vegetation masaes <br />and natural wildlife habitats to inaure against loss of these commu- <br />nity amenities. <br />Goal ?: Strive to eliminate or reduoe to acceptable atandardaj air <br />water and noise pollution and other sourcea of environmental deteri- <br />oration. <br />Policy: Environmentally deteriorating elements such as <br />air pollutants, noise, duat, litter, vibrationa, un- <br />pleasant odors, noxious weeda, soil erosion, water pollu- <br />tants, junk, and others shall be controlled by perEormance <br />standarde in the zoninq regulationa and other oodes and <br />ordinancea as neceseary. <br />Po11cy: Monitor noiae qenerated by air and vehicular <br />tra£Eic, and develop plana to deal with noiae pollution <br />wh.re appropriate.
