8/4/88 Appendix C. - Page 2 <br />Comments: During one year's operations, 34% of the programs were <br />locally-produoed by HCC such as college sports, concerts and a <br />talk show; 14% were produced by public access users with <br />technical and/or production assistance from HCC; 3% were produced <br />by school district users with technical and/or production <br />assistance by HCC; 14% were prerecorded programs cablecast by <br />HCC; 15% were public meetings held by the city with production by <br />HCC; and the remainder were produced by a variety of producers <br />(school district, religious access users, etc.) <br />Community: Wichita, KS <br />Management Entity: Wichita Public Schools USD 0259 <br />Types of Access Managed: educational, public (limited) <br />Channels Managed: 3 <br />Funding: School district funds all operations. Priorities for <br />staff and channel time are 1) productions that support the <br />district's educational mission, 2) nrcductions that support the <br />district's administrative program, and 3) productions that <br />provide community service. Public access production requests are <br />considered if there is also an educational benefit; some requests <br />are referred to a local college; some requests cannot be <br />accommodated. <br />B. It provides training to <br />menbers of the public, and cablecasts public access programs and <br />courses from a local college. <br />Community: Kenosha, WI (company -city management) <br />Types of Access Managed: public, educational, government <br />Channels Managed: 7 <br />Funding: Cable company pays salary of access coordinator who is <br />responsible for training, workshops, PR, program production and <br />cablecasting. Company gives city -appointed committee $50,000 to <br />fund production, grants. <br />Comments: Committee sets policies and operations rules for <br />channels. <br />C.
