1980, the accident rate for Lee Street has been typical for a local <br />residential street. F <br />The installation of multi -way stop siqn control at three intersections had <br />no effect on the accidents that occurred durinq the study period. <br />5. Pedestrian Activity <br />Observation of pedestrian activity showed little or no conflict between <br />Pedestrians and vehicles. Pedestrians were able to cross the street at <br />any point along Lee Street without eneounterinq a conflict With a vehicle. <br />6. Public Opinion Survev <br />The opinion survey of the neighborhood in 1985 showed that a majority of <br />those residents who responded to the survey preferred to have one or more <br />of the multi -way stop siqn operations removed. <br />Sixty two percent of the residents with addresses on Lee Street who <br />responded preferred to have all multi -Way stop sign operations remain. <br />CONCLUSIONS <br />a. Neither the lowering of the speed limit nor the installation of three <br />multi -way stop operations on Lee Street affected the speeds, volume or the <br />accident rate. <br />h.
