POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY WRITE-UP (Hounds View) <br />Position Title: Police Lieutenant Date: October, <br />1987 <br />Department: Police <br />Accountable To: Police Chief <br />Primary Objective of Position <br />Supervise and direct all sworn department personnel below the <br />level of Police Chief and provide indirect or functional <br />supervision over all other department <br />personnel. <br />Major Arsas of Accountability <br />1 <br />Ccordinates the activities and operations of all <br />personnel under his/her command. <br />Translates police management directives, programs and <br />2 <br />policies to department sargeants for implementation <br />by uniformed patrol officers and investigation <br />personnel. <br />Supervises police activities at the scene of major <br />3 <br />crimes, fires, crowd control incidents and other <br />emergencies. <br />CProvides <br />leadership in the development and evaluation <br />4 <br />of Department procedures within the Police Department <br />as a part of the police administration. <br />Performs street patrol when needed and aesists other <br />5 <br />officers in responding to emergency situations. <br />Maintains and compiles training records on all depart- <br />6 <br />ment personnel to ensure compliance with existing <br />state licensing requirements. <br />Represent t:.e Department at public meetings or <br />7 <br />gatherings and presents a positive and professional <br />image. <br />Disseminates information and activities•batween the <br />S <br />patrol and investigation divisions to ensure communi- <br />cation and cooperation between the two. <br />Performs administrative activities such as preparing <br />9 <br />memoranda, releasing information to public or media. <br />Assists in preparation of departmental budget. 10 <br />Supervises maintenance of police vehicles and equipment. 11 <br />Supervises Community Service Officer and program. 12 <br />Supervises scheduling of Department personnel. 13 <br />
