•
SYSTEM INVENTORY p
Master Inventory
The appendix contains.the various tables prepared for this study. Table 1
- System Inventory, contains 336 roadway segments generally on a block by
block basis. The segments were assigned a segment number starting in the
southwest corner and proceeding northerly and easterly. Table 1 lists the
following items for each roadway segment
1. length (in feet)
2. width (in feet)
3. surface area (in square yardsl -
4. year constructed, if know,i
5. year of last major maintene9Teeuch andas seal percent`oat if known
6. surface distress by type
7. functional classification
is the measure used to d?termine the needed level of
The surface distress -
repair work to the street system. The pavement surface condition survey
s ystsm was developed in 1979 by Texas A G M University and was bated upon
research supported by the National Science Foundation. -'fhe following is a -
type of surface and or structural distress criteria
description Of the
used is the Street Maintenace Study.
1. Raver --A breaking of the surface with visibly loose pieces
of aggregate.
Factors in determining severity: -
Slight -a few pieces of aggregate are visibly dislodged from
the pavement and are loosely sitting above the street's
surface.
Moderate -pieces of loose aggregate are present enough to
cover wide area* of the street's surface.
Severe -pieces of loose aggregate are so prevalent that they
cause the street's surface to be rough enough to be
noticeable when driving ❑ vehicle over the street.
Flushing (F)•j%sphalt covers tho aggregate.
Factors in determining severity:
Slight -asphalt is barely noticeable in its covering of the
aggregate.
Moderate -asphalt is covering large areas of the aggregate.
Severe -.asphalt is toally covering the aggregate.
