MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />PAGE FOUR <br />MAY 31, 1988 <br />receives or spends more than $750 in a calendar year must <br />submit an annual report within 14 days after receipt or <br />disbursement of $750; another report by January 31 of <br />each following year; and a final report when all debts <br />and assets are settled. <br />In addition, in election years when the candidate is on <br />the ballet, additional reports are necessary 10 days <br />before a primary election, 10 days before a general <br />election, 7 days before a special primary, 7 days before <br />a special election, and 30 days after a special election. <br />This law will go into affect for the 1988 elections. <br />11. Gambling Licenses. Chapter 705 extends the time period <br />to 60 days (currently 30 days) for City Councils to <br />review applications for and renewal of licenses to <br />conduct Charitable Gambling operations. <br />12. Zoning Requirements, Chapter 583 provides chat the <br />requirement of filing a variance to abstract or <br />registered property is satisfied if a certified copy of <br />the resolution stating the existence of the variance is <br />filed identifying where the variance documents are <br />available for inrpection. <br />13. Chapter 671 prohibits government purchases <br />after January 1, 1989 or other sales or purchases of <br />chloroflourocarbon (CFCL) processed packaging. The law <br />specifies a penalty up to $500 for a violation and <br />requires a study of ways to eliminate CFCL sources. <br />14. Dangerous Dog Regulations. Chapter 711 authorizes any <br />Home Rule Charter City to regulate potentially dangerous <br />dogs and enacts the state Dangerous Dog Statute <br />administered through counties. The law defines dangerous <br />dogs and potentially dangerous dogs based on their past <br />behavior or potential benavior. Potentially dangerous <br />dogs include those with a known propensity, tendency, or <br />disposition to attack when unprovoked or to chase people <br />on public property and an apparent attitude of attack. <br />Counties may charge owners of dangerous dogs an annual <br />fee, in addition to regular dog licensing, for a <br />Certificate of Registration for such an animal. <br />Registration of a dangerous dog must include a Surety <br />Bond or liability insurance of at least $50,000 insuring <br />the owner for any personal injuries t":t an animal might <br />inflict.
