The Mounds View Vision
A Thriving Desirable Community
Staff Report Continued

Comparison of the other two units with rear mounted wings. Pictured is unit #448.

Discussion:
Public Works Staff is recommending replacing this unit with a similar dump truck. Staff
researched the trucks available on the State Contract along with researching the plow
components also available on the State Contract.

Current timeline for receiving a new truck is 18 months, after placing the order.

Upon consensus, the recommended replacement unit is a 2027 Mack GR42BR, single
axle dump truck with a Cummins ISL-D 345hp diesel engine, Allison 3000-RDS 6 speed
transmission from Nuss Truck & Equipment which is under the State contract and is in
the amount of $143,112.32, not including license and transfer fees.

In addition to the truck itself, additional equipment and options are necessary to fully
utilize this truck and they include: a dump body, front plow, wing plow, snowplowing light
package, underbody scraper and controls, GPS unit, cameras and curb laser. These
items would be purchased and installed by Tow Master Truck Equipment, under the
State Contract in the amount of $188,772.00.

Additionally, an auto grease system would be installed by Lube Core at a cost of
$10,350.00. The total for both the truck and plow equipment and auto grease system is
$342,234.00.
