MOUNDS VIEW PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> • MEETING MINUTES <br /> OF <br /> APRIL 24, 1997 <br /> CITY HALL <br /> 6:30 P.M. <br /> CALL TO ORDER: Chair Burmeister called the meeting to order. <br /> ROLL CALL: Commissioners present included Chair <br /> Burmeister, Commissioners Dentz, Gunn, <br /> Starr, Long, Stevenson and Silvis. Director <br /> Saarion was also present. <br /> APPROVAL OF <br /> MINUTES: Commissioner Silvis made a motion <br /> seconded by Commissioner Long to <br /> approve the minutes of March 20, 1997. <br /> • Motion passed, 7 aye, 0 nay. <br /> COMMUNITY <br /> CENTER UPDATE: Director Saarion reported that City Administrator <br /> Whiting and City Attorney are working with the <br /> partnering groups including Children's Home <br /> Society, School District and VB Diggs to formulate <br /> agreements. The City Council and City <br /> Administrator will be working on other issues <br /> regarding funding options, facility options and <br /> operating options. <br /> COALITION FOR <br /> HEALTHY YOUTH: This was provided as information regarding the <br /> efforts of a multi-faceted community group that is <br /> organizing information and direction for community <br /> groups such as the Parks and Recreation <br /> Commission regarding priorities for building assets <br /> for youth. The idea is that it takes efforts by <br /> everyone, every group to provide opportunities for <br /> youth. Parks and Recreation is a key player in <br /> providing youth with constructive activity <br /> • opportunities during leisure or discretionary time. <br />
