Mounds View City Council April 13, 2026 <br /> Regular Meeting Page 11 <br /> 1 Mayor Lindstrom stated he was in discussions with Turbo Tim about the City of Mounds View <br /> 2 hosting a car cruise this summer. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Mayor Lindstrom explained that the Community Engagement Committee would be hosting a <br /> 5 movie night at the AMC Theater on April 24 where the new Mario Brothers movie will be <br /> 6 screened. He encouraged those interested in this event to register on Eventbrite. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 Mayor Lindstrom reported on Wednesday,April 15 he would be speaking at St. Thomas with law <br /> 9 students regarding his work with the clemency board. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Mayor Lindstrom wished Minnesota Supreme Chief Justice Hudson all the best in her retirement. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Council Member Meehlhause thanked public works staff for all their efforts on cleaning up area <br /> 14 around the Silver View Park disc golf course. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 i. Charter Commission Members. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Council Member Meehlhause stated the Charter Commission was a nine board Commission that <br /> 19 was appointed by a Ramsey County judge. He noted there was currently an opening on this <br /> 20 Commission and two residents applied for this opening. He explained when two or more <br /> 21 candidates apply for an opening the Council can make a recommendation to the judge for the <br /> 22 position. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 MOTION/SECOND: Meehlhause/Gunn. To recommend Greg Evenson be appointed to the <br /> 25 Mounds View Charter Commission. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Council Member Clark stated she was conflicted with this recommendation because she knew both <br /> 28 candidates personally. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 Mayor Lindstrom indicated there would be another vacancy on the Charter Commission in the <br /> 31 near horizon and the other candidate could apply for this opening. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Ayes—5 Nays—0 Motion carried. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Council Member Smith thanked police and fire personnel for attending the Easter Egg Hunt. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 B. Reports of Staff. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson stated the Council would be holding a joint <br /> 40 meeting with the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission on Thursday, April 23 to discuss <br /> 41 funding for the 2040 Parks Master Plan. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Public Works/Parks and Recreation Director Peterson was pleased to report registration numbers <br /> 44 for the summer day camp was exceeding last years numbers and the City may have to look into <br /> 45 hiring additional staff members to run this program. <br /> 46 <br />
