Mayor Faust expressed the City Council’s appreciation to the Police Department for all their 1
efforts and for reaching out to the community. 2
3
B. Fiber Connection Agreement between City of St. Anthony and St. Anthony-New 4
Brighton School District. Mark Casey, City Manager, presenting. 5
6
City Manager Casey presented an agreement with St. Anthony-New Brighton School District for 7
the build out and future maintenance of a fiber optic connection between City Hall and Roseville 8
as well as between St. Anthony High School and TIES. He reviewed the planned build out as 9
outlined in the agreement and explained that the City’s connection to metro I-Net through the 10
City of Roseville results in the City being removed from the Comcast institutional network at no 11
cost to the City and noted there is a one-time cost of approximately $3,000 for extending the 12
connection from the Silver Lake Liquor Store to 39th and Stinson. He stated the proposed 13
agreement gives the City connectivity through a shared agreement and if the City gets a 14
dedicated fiber connection in the future, this will serve as a redundancy for the City. 15
16
Mayor Faust stated this agreement provides resilience for the City to operate in the event of any 17
interruptions and in the meantime it gives the City the ability to connect its liquor stores and 18
eliminate some landline costs. He stated this is a great example of the City’s collaboration with 19
Roseville and the School District and residents are being well served by this agreement. 20
21
Motion by Councilmember Stille, seconded by Councilmember Jenson, to accept the Fiber Optic 22
Agreement between the City of St. Anthony and St. Anthony-New Brighton School District. 23
24
Motion carried unanimously. 25
26
C. Overnight Closure of St. Anthony Boulevard. Mark Casey, City Manager, presenting. 27
28
City Manager Casey presented a request for the mill and overlay of St. Anthony Boulevard to be 29
done outside of the City’s regular working hours. He explained the Ordinance states that work 30
cannot start before 7:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m. and the contractor is proposing to block off the 31
road and perform the work overnight. He stated the contractor and City staff would coordinate 32
the closure with the cemetery and golf course and the contractor would be responsible for 33
installing advanced notification signage one week prior to the closure. He stated that City staff 34
believes the overnight work is a good way to accomplish the difficult process of closing down St. 35
Anthony Boulevard, which is in need of repairs and the closure will help facilitate completion of 36
the work over a short period of time. 37
38
Motion by Councilmember Gray, seconded by Councilmember Brever, to allow the overnight 39
closure of St. Anthony Boulevard and allow reconstruction to occur outside the working hours 40
established by Ordinance. 41
42
Motion carried unanimously. 43
44
VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCIL MEMBERS. 45
46
City Manager Casey reported that the City’s spring cleanup day on Saturday, May 2nd, had 250 47
vehicles, up from 58 last year. He also reported the City has hired Nicole Miller as City Clerk. 48
5
