City Council Regular Meeting Minutes September 22, 2015 Page 4 a Truck event that was held at Silver Lake Village on 39th Avenue. Along with the Fire 1 Department Open House there will also be public works and police vehicles for residents of all 2 ages to see some of the nice equipment the City operates with and give the younger children a 3 chance to see the vehicles up close. 4 5 Mr. Casey complimented Faith Methodist on their rain garden in their parking lot. They did this 6 on their own without the City asking them to do it. They had excellent cooperation from various 7 community members. They received funds from the MWMO and some work from the girl scouts 8 and the folks from Nativity helped them. 9 10 Mr. Casey noted the street project is completed for the year and he thanked residents for their 11 patience during construction. 12 13 Mr. Casey stated a Green Corp member started and she will be with the City for the next ten 14 months. She will provide a presentation to Council. She will be out and about throughout the 15 Community. Green Corp is funded through the MPCA and provides someone who has some 16 sustainable or environmental college graduates to help the City advance some of the 17 sustainability initiatives. 18 19 Councilmember Stille stated on September 15, Council participated in a tabletop exercise. This 20 was a mock disaster with the incident being a trail derailment. It was a practice and was covered 21 by all departments of the City. Ramsey County helped guide through that particular mock event. 22 It was a good learning experience. It is good to be prepared in the event something happens, but 23 hope it never does. 24 25 Councilmember Stille stated on September 19, he attended Mississippi Water Management 26 Organization Open House at their new facility on Marshall and Lowry. The facility was designed 27 to filter water and provide demonstrations on how water is filtered. It is also a national park. He 28 encouraged residents to visit the facility. 29 30 Councilmember Gray stated he also attended the tabletop exercise. 31 32 Councilmember Brever stated she attended the tabletop exercise and a Park Commission 33 Meeting on September 14 where the Commissioners heard a report on the bike paths. 34 35 Councilmember Jenson stated on September 10, he attended the Community Services Advisory 36 Committee Meeting. This was the first meeting for the new school year 2015 – 2016 and they 37 discussed plans for the upcoming year. The Committee will be expanding their capability of 38 communicating to residents who no longer have children in school. That is a new service to be 39 provided. 40 41 Councilmember Jenson stated on September 16, the St. Anthony History Committee sold 600 42 copies of the history book. There are 72 of the World War II books remaining of the original 43 250 copies. 44 45 46 Mayor Faust stated on September 14 was the Regional Council of Mayors Meeting.
