He <br /> 4 said one of the most helpful issues which were pursued was the <br /> 5 perception that Boards should give better directions regarding the <br /> 6 main thrust of their organizations to the membership. In response <br /> 7 to these inadequacies , the YSB will set up a program of position <br /> 8 descriptions so board members will know exactly what is expected of <br /> 9 them. <br /> 10 Councilmember Marks indicated he expected to be on jury duty for <br /> 11 several more weeks. <br /> 12 DEPARTMENTS AND COMMITTEES <br /> 13 Before the Hance & LeVahn report on cases they had prosecuted at <br /> 14 Hennepin County District Court on January 6th was ordered filed, <br /> 15 Councilmember Marks commented he was glad to see the Court require <br /> 16 at least some payment of the City' s costs. <br /> 17 CITY MANAGER REPORTS <br /> 18 January 22 , 1988 Staff Meeting Notes <br /> 4w19 *During the consideration of the 1988 goals adopted by the Fire <br /> 0 Department, Mr. Childs indicated the proposed $7, 500 expenditure <br /> 21 for an' air compressor to replenish the oxygen in the Department' s <br /> 22 air masks and resuscitators would have to be considered in some <br /> 23 future budget session. <br /> 24 *In reference to the Police Chief Hickerson' s observations related <br /> 25 to the school -district' s deferring maintenance items in antici- <br /> 26 pation of the potential transfer of Parkview' s ownership, the <br /> 27 Manager indicated staff was documenting all deferred items which <br /> 28 would have to be taken care of before the City would take over the <br /> 29 building. <br /> 30 *Mr. Nelson' s recommendations related to a joint grand opening for <br /> 31 the new Stonehouse restaurant and liquor warehouse operations were <br /> 32 explored briefly with arguments made for more exposure through <br /> 33 several events. Mr. Childs indicated he would relay these concerns <br /> 34 to the Liquor Manager who he was certain would be open to any <br /> 35 Council suggestions. Councilmember Enrooth suggested restaurant <br /> 36 and liquor store patrons might have to compete for the same parking <br /> 37 spaces when both operations are running at full capacity. The <br /> 38 Mayor agreed, saying Mr. Nelson had told him Mr. Manning antici- <br /> 39 pated business in his St. Anthony restaurant might surpass his <br /> 40 other two southeast Minneapolis locations. <br /> 41 Liquor Warehouse Addition Expected to be Completed by End of Week <br /> • <br /> 5 <br />
