1 Columbus and their families to conduct the fundraiser they propose in <br /> 2 front of St. Anthony businesses, April 22nd and 23rd. <br /> 3 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 4 REPORTS <br /> 5 COUNCIL <br /> 6 Other Communities Finally Demonstrating Interest in Recycling <br /> 7 Enrooth reported the entire month of May was filled with recycling <br /> 8 meetings all of which he could never make and would appreciate some of <br /> 9 the other Councilmembers attending in his place at some of the <br /> 10 meetings. He found it quite ironic that after St. Anthony had been <br /> 11 recycling for 15 years, all the other communities were getting on the <br /> 12 band wagon at this late date. <br /> 13 St. Anthony to Observe "Cities Week" and "Arbor Week" First Week of May <br /> 14 Motion by Marks, seconded by Enrooth to direct Mayor Sundland to sign <br /> 15 the proclamation in the Council agenda packet declaring May 1st through <br /> 16 the 7th to be observed as "Arbor Week" in St. Anthony. <br /> 17 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 18 Motion by Ranallo, seconded by Marks to authorize the preparation and <br /> 19 signing by the Mayor of a proclamation which declares St. Anthony <br /> 20 will observe the first week in May as "Cities Week" in conjunction with <br /> 21 the same League of Cities observance throughout the State of Minnesota. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 24 Staff has been making arrangements for the release of balloons in front <br /> 25 of City Hall At 1: 00 P.M. on Cities Day, May 4th, in conjunction with <br /> 26 the above observance and Mr. Childs asked Mr. Eklund if he thought <br /> 27 someone from the Knights clown group could be present to oversee the <br /> 28 balloon release by children from the Parkview child care center. The <br /> 29 resident indicated he and his wife, Angie, who is a .member of that <br /> 30 group, would be out of town that day, but he was certain one of the <br /> 31 clowns would be glad to provide that service. <br /> 32 LMC President- to Kick Off "Cities Week" in St. Anthony <br /> 33 Councilmember Ranallo reported the Mayor had gotten Chuck Hazama, <br /> 34 Mayor of Rochester and President of the League of Minnesota Cities, to <br /> 35 come to St.- Anthony to participate in the opening ceremonies Sunday <br /> 36 night, May 1st. <br /> 37 Ranallo Chosen to Moderate National League of Cities Human <br /> 38 Development Conference in St. Paul, May 20-21 <br /> • <br /> 4 <br />
