1 The Councilmember said he had been honored to have the NLC ask him to <br /> 2 perform this service at the conference where human development programs <br /> 3 from all over the United States would be reported. He also reminded <br /> 4 the other Councilmembers that the League of Minnesota Cities annual <br /> 5 meeting would be held in the St. Paul Radisson Hotel on June 7 , 8, and <br /> 6 9 , during which the LMC' s 75th anniversary would be celebrated. <br /> 7 Marks Reports Very Successful Youth Service Bureau Fundraising <br /> 8 The Councilmember reported an incredible effort on the part of the past <br /> 9 YSB Chairman had resulted in over $110 ,000 being raised in one year as <br /> 10 compared to only around $88 ,000 being raised the previous 11 years. He <br /> 11 attributed much of the success to the great involvement of area <br /> 12 business people and the many new programs the Bureau had initiated. <br /> 13 DEPARTMENTS AND COMMITTEES <br /> 14 Following brief discussions, the following reports were ordered filed <br /> 15 as informational: <br /> 16 *Hance & LeVahn, Ltd. report on matters conducted at the Hennepin <br /> 17 District Court on March 16 , 1988 ; <br /> 18 *March Fire Department report; <br /> 19 *February financial report. <br /> 4k0 Liquor Operation Returns Improving <br /> 21 It was noted that the new Stonehouse on sale operation was really going <br /> 22 well and the Manager reported the off-sale returns were coming back. <br /> 23 He also assured Councilmember Enrooth that Ray Nelson would be <br /> 24 reporting back soon on the Apache Wells negotiations. Problems with <br /> 25 facility identification were explored. <br /> 26 Councilmember Makowske reported her daughter had been very impressed <br /> 27 with the help she had received while shopping for the family' s Easter <br /> 28 dinner wine at the Stonehouse off sale facility. <br /> 29 CITY MANAGER REPORTS <br /> 30 Staff to Handle Church Sewer Charge Issues <br /> 31 In response to Mr. Childs ' April 8th memorandum on letters from Elmwood. <br /> 32 and Nativity Lutheran Church' s requesting the City treat the churches <br /> 33 the same as single family residential users when calculating sewer <br /> 34 charges, Mayor Sundland_ reported he had talked to both the Nativity <br /> 35 Assistant Pastor and Property Committee Chairman Collins. He said he <br /> 36 had learned through these conversations that the question was a minor <br /> 37 issue with Nativity. The Mayor reported Nativity Pastor Seefelt had <br /> 38 told him he was looking into a movable meter for lawn watering <br /> ®39 purposes. <br /> 5 <br />
