STAFF MEETING NOTES <br /> • OCTOBER 18, 1988 <br /> The meeting began at 8:35 A.M. immediately following the orders <br /> for rolls and coffee at Bakers Square. Those present were Sue <br /> VanderHeyden, Dave Childs, Ray Nelson, Connie Kroeplin, Lee <br /> Entner, and Larry Hamer. Don Hickerson was absent. <br /> Dave Childs <br /> 1 . A total of $2,935 was raised this campaign for the 'United <br /> Way. The liquor operations led the way with 54% of that total; <br /> the police, office, fire, and public works departments followed <br /> in that or-der-.- <br /> 2 . The utility bills and City Newsletter will be sent out this <br /> Friday. <br /> 3 . The City Council will hold a special meeting on November <br /> lst to interview three architectural firms who are interested in <br /> doing a facility analysis for Parkview. <br /> 4 . The City is very near settling their water contamination <br /> litigation with the Army. The Army will be meeting this week and <br /> Mr. Childs will know more after that meeting. As soon as the <br /> • litigation is settled, a press conference will be held. <br /> 5. The purchase agreement for Phase 3 of the Kenzie <br /> Redevelopment project regarding the Saliterman property has been <br /> signed. The closing will be held in about 30 days. Federal <br /> Relocation Inc. is working on relocating the present tenants and <br /> has indicated some relocation has been done. The purchase <br /> agreement for the triangle of land owned by Kraus-Anderson is <br /> very near being signed also. <br /> 6. Craig Belisle, owner of the Video Update (2510 Kenzie <br /> Terrace) may be cited for the flashing lights he has placed in <br /> the store's windows. Mr. Hamer spoke to a store manager about <br /> the lights and observed that the store had been expanded without <br /> obtaining a building permit or a conditional use permit, both of <br /> which are required by Ordinance. There was also a portable sign <br /> which should have been approved by the City Manager, but wasn't. <br /> Mr. Hamer informed the store manager of these violations and Mr. <br /> Childs received a call the same day from the owner. The owner <br /> was informed by Mr. Childs of the above violations. It is <br /> expected that Mr. Belisle will be at the next Planning Commission <br /> meeting. <br /> 7. The new owner has removed the roof sign atop Mickey D's <br /> Restaurant. <br />
