Parks Commission Meeting Minutes <br /> June 4, 2001 <br /> Page 3 <br /> 1 Mr. Hartman stated that what Ms. Olivier presented was accommodating what the Parks <br /> 2 Commission has been requesting. . <br /> 3 Mr. Anderson asked about the mechanical and custodial space. Ms. Olivier stated that there were <br /> 4 about 185 sq ft. intended for mechanical and custodial space. Mr. Kost stated that whatever is <br /> 5 planned for storage would be necessary and used. <br /> 6 Commissioner Zurbey stated that the extra$60,000 from Scheme A to Scheme B seemed to buy <br /> 7 them a lot. <br /> 8 Mr. Hartman asked what Ms. Olivier intended to put out to bid. Ms. Olivier stated that she <br /> 9 thought somewhere between Schemes B and C. She stated that they could do add alternates in <br /> 10 the bid. <br /> 11 Commissioner Zurbey suggested they examine the true use of the building. Chair Jindra said she <br /> 12 thought there were several things that would keep the building occupied: family reunions, <br /> 13 birthday parties, etc. <br /> 14 Representative from Community Services, Diane Skrivseth stated that she agreed with_Ms. <br /> 15 Olivier to go with Scheme B, and cited the larger windows as important: <br /> 16 Ms. Olivier agreed with Chair Jindra and stated that the building could be used for several more <br /> 17 purposes than simply as a warming house. <br /> 18 Chair Jindra mentioned the similar building at New Brighton and stated that the building would <br /> 19 be used for things other than park functions, and that a cheaply constructed building would need <br /> 20 to be upgraded soon. She stated that it is important to do it right the first time. <br /> 21 Ms. Olivier stated she agreed with Chair Jindra and indicated that the character from Silver Point <br /> 22 Park would carry down to the Central Park Pavilion, if they went with Scheme B with some <br /> 23 additions. <br /> 24 Ms. Olivier stated that the contingency in the Central Park Pavilion was built in at 15%. <br /> 25 Ms. Olivier stated that the Commission could go with Scheme A, add the larger windows back <br /> 26 in, and addition some of the other,features found in Schemes B and C. <br /> 27 Commissioner Zurbey suggested that they go with Scheme B, at least, and look at the Park <br /> 28 proposal, in relation to the decision on the building. <br /> 29 Ms. Olivier suggested that they go with Scheme A, with the larger windows and the stainless <br /> 30 steel for the base bid, and place other features from Scheme B as additions. Mr. Kost agreed. <br />
