Subdi.vision request for 2816 Highway 88. (Resolution 01-069) 6 Commissioner Thomas stated that Mr. Palkowski was present, and that his request was 7 routine. Therefore, Commissioner Thomas recommended that the Council approve his 8 subdivision request. 9 Mayor Cavanaugh asked why this needed to be done. Mr. Palkowski stated he wanted it 10 to be treated as one lot going forward. 11 Motion by Commissioner Sparks to adopt Resolution 01-069 re: Sub-division request 12 for 2816 Highway 88. 13 Motion carried unanimously. 14 2. Ordinance 2001-2002, re: Electronic signs (1S1 reading). 15 Commissioner Thomas informed the Council that the discussion among the Planning 16 Commissioners was a very contentious issue, as they wanted to be proactive with an 17 electronic sign ordinance. 18 Commissioner Thomas said it was a question of whether to write the ordinance exactly 19 how they want it, line by line, or to hash out the details with the City Council's input and 20 the recommendations of the Planning Commission and the sub-committee. 21 Commissioner Thomas stated that they wanted to essentially deal with the policy issue. 22 He added that most Commissioners agreed that the ordinance should be changed first, 23 with the specifics to come later. 24 Commissioner Thomas stated that they were recommending a hybrid ordinance, and that, 25 if the City decides to go forward with an electronic sign, they would need to go back to 26 the Planning Commission to determine the aesthetic issues. He added that it was a split 27 Commission, and most felt uncomfortable without seeing the specifics of the ordinance. 28 Commissioner Thomas stated that they were willing to work with the Council to develop 29 the final product. 30 Councilmember Thuesen asked Mr. Gilligan if he had an opinion on the issue. Mr. 31 Gilligan stated that he did not. He added that he thought it could be best used with the 32 conditional use process. 33 Commissioner Thomas stated that they were feeling they could move forward with the 34 proposal with an electronic sign.
