The redevelopment will boast an impressive central park facility which will act as the focal
point of the development and a strong amenity for the whole St. Anthony community.
Leading away from this will be a series of trails, sidewalks and connected open spaces
■ that will link the site internally and enhance connections with the surrounding neighbor-
hoods. Sidewalk and trail development will also strengthen links with the new Hennepin
. Parks Regional facility on the old Salvation Army site.
The development will also directly contribute to the improvement of water quality in nearby
Silver Lake. The park and open space system will be designed to function as storm water
retention and filtration facilities to assure that run-off reaching the lake will add to, rather
than detract from, the water quality of the lake.
Commercial development will also be an important component of the new neighborhood.
At full build out the development will have approximately the same amount of retail space
■ as is located on the site at present (excluding the mall), although it will be grouped more
closely around the Cub store to provide a dynamic commercial hub. It is hoped that many
of the existing shops and restaurants serving the neighborhood will relocate to the new
development. Additional retail and services uses will be focused around those that serve
the local neighborhood. There will also be ample opportunity for office development, both
on the site in stand-alone buildings and in mixed-use facilities above neighborhood-serv-
ing retail. The development will also be well served by multiple Metro Transit routes with
shielded waiting facilities provided on-site.
Northwes
t Quadrant Redevelopment Plan St. Anthony Village Pap 4.3
