City of St. Anthony - Commissions Page 8 of 9
Commissioner Tillman clarified that it would be fine if they were to
place just the awning, with no lettering of any kind, as it would not
be a sign. She clarified that if they place lettering on the awning it
becomes a sign. City Manager Mornson agreed stating that based
on the discussion the proposal sounds like it has changed. He
suggested that the Wolfbauer's and Mr. Law meet with Staff to
review the current proposal.
City Manager Mornson stated that the ordinance allows 150 square
feet per right of way frontage and they can go up to 450 square feet
all the way around the building. He asked what their timeline would
be for installing the awning. He suggested combining the changes
into one package and review the proposal with Staff prior to
presenting to the Planning Commission for consideration.
Mr. Law stated that they would provide the Commission with another
rendition and provide samples of the awning and signage for their
review.
Chair Stromgren questioned whether they have three right-of-way
frontages and reviewed. Commissioner Young agreed stating that
the Commission definitely needs to know the number of frontages in
order to give consideration to the appropriate signage. She
suggested providing a plat and a new rendering to clarify the
frontage.
City Manager Mornson suggested coming back in December for
another concept review before scheduling a hearing. He explained
that that they need to be more precise with their numbers in order to
be assured that they are in compliance with City Code and State
law.
Commissioner Young asked if there are any issues or concerns with
the longevity of parking trailers on a business site. Chair Stromgren
stated that the ordinance states a 72-hour parking limit for vehicles
with signage. Mr. Wolfbauer stated that one of the trailers is moved
and used quite often. He stated that they plan to liquidate the other
trailer on the property.
IX. PUBLIC INPUT.
NONE
X. INFORMATION AND DISCUSSION.
NONE
XI.
