He stated that it encompasses the east side
of the existing medical building and the backside of building B. He
stated that they are currently reviewing a variety of parking layouts
and could get anywhere from 89 to 100 spaces within the proposed
area.
Commissioner Jensen asked if the parking only spans the two
proposed buildings or does it also include the existing building. Mr.
Waters explained that it is their plan to go under the eastern half of
the existing building to maximize the amount of parking available.
Chair Stromgren asked if there would be ventilation structures
coming up from the ground. Mr. Waters stated that ventilation is part
of the process adding that until they get to the actual design phase
how the structures would look would be difficult to describe. He
assured the Commission that the structures would be aesthetically
pleasing, with ventilation working appropriately, by utilizing a design
that would compliment and maintain the design integrity of current
surrounding structures.
Chair Stromgren stated that this is a very light submittal request. He
stated that for future applications the Commission expects to see
more detail outlined in the proposal. He stated that they would need
complete information on the elevations, as the Commission is very
concerned about the appearance in this area. He stated that the
Commission also has concerns regarding loading dock locations
and trash pickup.
Vice Chair Hanson asked if the area on the north side of the existing
building would be a new parking lot location. Mr. Waters explained
that this lot currently exists as double-loaded parking and their plan
is to go to single space parking. He stated that there is considerable
buffering to the north that would probably remain for some time to
come. He noted that this is not part of their property, this area is
owned by Equinox.
Vice Chair Hanson asked if the third and fourth floor units would
have a view of the downtown area and the lake. Mr. Waters stated
that the units would have a seasonal view of the lake area noting
that the new buildings would not be any taller than the existing
building.
Commissioner Hoska referenced the underground parking area and
asked if the parking area would be able to support a fire engine or
ladder truck. Mr. Waters stated that the Fire Marshall has already
inquired and assured the Commission that support would not be an
issue.
Vice Chair Hanson asked if a Community Center or additional
amenities would be included in the proposal for the tenants. Mr.
Waters explained that this is an affordable housing project and
would not include any additional amenities or a Community Center.
He stated that the project would be close to Silver Lake, downtown
and shopping areas, all great amenities.
Commissioner Young stated that since this project includes medical
offices what kind of signage is being considered for the building. Mr.
Waters stated that they would expect to retain signage along the
ttp://www.ci,saint-anthon -mn us/noxie/g_cvernment/PCag mn/peminutes1116.shtml 12/17/2004
