Regular Council Meeting <br /> August 14, 1990 <br /> page 2 <br /> 1 Motion by Marks, second by Wagner to approve the license application <br /> 2 for Metro Refuse, Inc. , Savage, Mn. . <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Temporary 3.2 Beer and Wine Licenses: <br /> 7 <br /> 8 Motion by Makowske, second by Enrooth to approve the license applications <br /> 9 for the following requests: <br /> 10 <br /> 11 St. Charles Borromeo Church, September 14, 1990 at the school , 2727 <br /> 12 Stinson Boulevard for a steak fry and dance (wine and 3.2 beer) <br /> 13 St. Charles Borromeo Church, February 10, 1991 for a Mardi Gras at <br /> 14 2727 Stinson Boulevard (3.2 beer) <br /> 15 Village Originals, September 9, 1990 for a picnic at Central Park <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Roll call : Makowske, Enrooth, Wagner, Ranallo - aye <br /> 18 Marks - abstain <br /> 19 <br /> 20 The for the St. Charles' licenses were waived. <br /> 21 <br /> Motion carried <br /> i <br /> 22 Ken Girard, representing the St. Anthony Lions Club, appeared before <br /> 23 the Council requesting support for "White Cane Day" in St. Anthony <br /> 24 on September 15th. Mr. Girard explained this is a relatively new <br /> 25 project in this area and it focuses on visual impairment and assisting <br /> 26 visually impaired people with their needs. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 All proceeds realized from this project will be contributed to the <br /> 29 Children's Eye Clinic at the University of Minnesota and to children <br /> 30 who have incurred eye damage from diabetes. Mr. Girard noted that <br /> 31 Lions Clubs in the country have long supported projects dealing with <br /> 32 the training of seeing-eye dogs and matching them to appropriate <br /> 33 owners. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 The "White Cane" fundraising will be taking place at the Apache <br /> 36 Shopping Center, the St. Anthony Shopping Center and at an inter- <br /> 37 section on 29th Avenue. Mayor Ranallo observed that this event will <br /> 38 be taking place on the same day as Clean-Up Day in the City so there <br /> 39 will be considerable traffic. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 The City Manager was requested to prepare a resolution in support <br /> 42 of "White Cane Day." <br /> 43 <br /> 44 Motion by Marks, second by Enrooth to encourage support of this <br /> 45 request and to declare September 15th as "White Cane Day." <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 48 <br /> 49 <br /> 50 <br />
