Regular Council Meeting <br /> January 8, 1991 <br /> page 5 <br /> • <br /> 1 attending the next Merchant' s Association meeting at Apache Plaza. <br /> 2 <br /> Mayor Ranallo noted that the Kinney Shoe Store's decision to move from <br /> 4 Apache Plaza was not due to its management nor overhead. He also advised <br /> that Minnesota Fabrics is interested in moving back into the Shopping <br /> Center but have a ten year lease at their present location. The Bonanza <br /> Restaurant is considering moving into a portion of the space formerly <br /> R occupied by Minnesota Fabrics. Mayor Ranallo suggested they should <br /> 9 consider a community room adjacent to this restaurant. There is a real <br /> i0 need for a meeting room where food would be available and banquet <br /> 11 facilities could be considered. <br /> 12 <br /> 3 Councilmembers Wagner and Fleming will be attending the Ramsey County <br /> 13 League of Local Governments orientation on January 19th. Councilmember <br /> i4 Fleming is also planning to attend the Conference for Newly-Elected <br /> Officials sponsored by the League of Minnesota Cities on February 2nd <br /> 16 <br /> 17 and the special pre-conference sessions conducted by the Government <br /> 18 Training Service on February 1st. <br /> 19 Mayor Ranallo referred to the recent article in the Northeaster news- <br /> 20 <br /> 21 paper regarding a bus route in the City and the request to alter the <br /> 22 route. The City Manager will draft a letter to the Metropolitan Transit <br /> 23 Commission for the Mayor's signature . Councilmember Marks advised the <br /> 24 Council of a very dangerous situation for pedestrians at a .bus stop <br /> 25 near the cemetery. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Councilmember Enrooth said the next Village Fest meeting is scheduled <br /> 98 for Monday, January 14th . He indicated if all four members of the <br /> 29 Council who serve on the Village Fest Committee continue to attend <br /> 30 its meetings , there is a potential for a violation of the Open Meeting <br /> 31 Law. <br /> 32 Councilmember Wagner, who represents the Kiwanis on the Committee, will <br /> 33 request some other Kiwanis member to replace him. Councilmember Enrooth <br /> 34 <br /> 5 stated his willingness to withdraw from the Committee as did Mayor <br /> 3 <br /> 35 Ranallo. Councilmember Enrooth suggested this matter be discussed later. <br /> 37 Mayor Ranallo advised that the next agenda item was purposely delayed to <br /> 38 afford the Boy Scouts in attendance an opportunity to observe local <br /> 39 government in action. <br /> 41 B. City Manager's Report <br /> 42 9 P <br /> 43 1 . Interpretation of Sign Ordinance <br /> 44 <br /> yr, Jamie Kagol has requested permission to install an identification sign <br /> 46 in front of Wilshire Park Elementary School as part of his Eagle Scout <br /> 47 project. He will be constructing the sign. <br /> 48 <br /> Jamie explained that the sign has "1Jilshire Park School" routed on both <br /> 49 <br /> • 49 sides and it will be painted and stained.
