This issue will be presented at the June 2 meeting. 3 Morrison reported that Clean-Up Day was a success and the City was able to recover costs 4 through a nominal fee as well as applying for grants through the county. 5 Morrison noted that the next two months of City Council meetings will have many detailed 6 issues on the agenda, and it would be critical for all the Councilmembers to be in attendance. If 7 an absence is expected, Morrison encouraged the Councilmembers to alert him in advance of the 8 meeting. 9 Morrison reminded the Council of the worksession scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2000, as well 10 as a joint meeting with the School Board from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., May 23, 2000. The regular 11 City Council meeting would occur following the meeting with the School Board. 12 XI. REPORTS FROM COUNCILMEMBERS. 13 Hodson did not present a report. 14 Horst reported that he had been contacted by a resident inquiring about parking on both sides of •15 the street. Apparently this has become an issue during soccer games and both sides of the street 16 are lined with cars. 17 Cavanaugh directed City Manager Michael Morrison to inquire with Public Safety regarding 18 parking on both sides of a street. 19 Thuesen reported that he had attended a seminar entitled"Beyond Basics"which concerned 20 -- landuse issues. He.recommended the seminar, particular to-Councilmembers who had not been a - 21 member of the Planning Commission prior to becoming a Councilmember. 22 Sparks reported that the next VillageFest meeting would be Thursday, May 25, 2000 at 6:30 p.m. 23 at the Community Center. She provided an update that a pigroast would be this year at 24 VillageFest, and a number of student groups would be scheduling activities. Some of those ac- 25 tivities would include: NHS is organizing a volleyball tournament;some students are scheduling 26 a powderpuff football game; SADD plans to organize a bonfire after the fireworks; and the Key 27 Club plans on a wiffleball tournament. 28 Additionally, Sparks reported that she attended a meeting with Staff of the Middle Mississippi 29 Watershed Management Organization, who is waiting for the legislature to finish up on pending 30 legislation. •31 Furthermore, Sparks reported that she attended a meeting with the League of Minnesota Cities 32 regarding improving community life wherein a symposium on affordable housing was presented.
