3.351(3) (a) Buildings. Every building shall have at least the equivalent of 60-ampere, <br /> • three-wire service to all occupied portions thereof. <br /> 3:351(3)(b) Dwelling Units. Dwelling units shall have at least one branch electric circuit <br /> for each 600 square feet of dwelling unit floor area. <br /> 3.351(3) (c) Habitable Rooms. Every habitable room of every dwelling unit shall have <br /> at least one floor or wall-type electric convenience outlet for each 60 square <br /> feet or fraction thereof of total floor area, and in no case less than two such <br /> electric outlets. Temporary wiring or extension cords shall not be used as <br /> permanent wiring. <br /> 3.351(3) (d) Bathroom Kitchen, Laundry, Furnace. Every water closet department, <br /> bathroom,kitchen,laundry room,and furnace room shall contain at least one <br /> supplied ceiling or wall- type electric light fixture and every bathroom and <br /> laundry room shall contain at least one electric convenience outlet. <br /> 3.351(3) (e) Halls and Stairways. Every common hall and stairway in every multiple <br /> family dwelling shall be adequately lighted by natural or electric light at all <br /> times, so as to maintain an average, horizontal illumination of two foot <br /> candles as defined in the Fifth Edition of the Illumination Engineers' Society <br /> handbook. Every public hall and stairway in structures containing not more <br /> than two dwelling units may be supplied with conveniently located light <br /> switches controlling an adequate lighting system which may be turned on <br /> when needed, instead of full-time lighting. <br /> • 3.351(3)(f) Convenience Switches. A convenient switch or equivalent device for turning <br /> on a light in each dwelling unit shall be located near the points of entrance <br /> to such unit. <br /> 3.351-(3)(g) Non-Residential Facilities. Every non-residential facility shall have sufficient <br /> circuits installed to various parts of the building to prevent overloading and <br /> overfusing. <br /> 3.351 (4) Minimum Ventilation Standards: Except where there is supplied some other <br /> device affording sufficient ventilation as specified in Section 3.20 through 3.223 <br /> of this chapter, for various occupancy types and approved by the Building <br /> Official, every occupied room shall have at least one window facing directly <br /> outdoors which can be opened easily. The minimum total of openable window <br /> area in every habitable room shall be the greater of five percent of the floor area, <br /> of the room,and in no case less than four square feet. Every non-habitable room <br /> (bathroom,water closet compartment,laundry room,and utility room)shall have <br /> at least fifty percent of the openable window requirement otherwise appropriate <br /> for the.floor area, except that no windows shall be required if such rooms are <br /> equipped with a ventilation system which is approved by the Director of Fire and <br /> Safety. <br /> 3.351 (5) Discontinuance of Basic Services or Utilities: No owner, operator, or occupant <br /> shall cause or allow any service or utility which is required under this Dwelling <br /> Code, to be shut off from or discontinued for any occupied building or portion <br /> thereof let or occupied by him, except for such temporary interruptions as may <br /> • be necessary while actual repairs or alterations are in process, or during <br /> 3 -26 072684 <br />
