Based on our conversations I have prepared a resolution for the <br /> City Council's consideration on February 27, 1998. This resolution is an application to participate in <br /> • the National Flood Insurance Program and to identify the individual who will be responsible at City <br /> Hall for the administration of the Flood Insurance Program. <br /> This resolution provides FEMA with City assurances that they will enact and enforce provisions <br /> consistent with the criteria set forth in Section 59 and 60.3 of the National Flood Insurance Program <br /> Regulations,Section 60.3 is attached. The City's existing building codes,building permit process,and <br /> zoning may be adequate to meet the requirements of these regulations, <br /> Also attached please find a copy of the Federal Emergency Management Agency Application for <br /> Participation in the National Flood Insurance Program, This application will be reviewed by the <br /> Chicago office of FFMA. It is anticipated that the City will be accepted into this program within a <br /> matter of weeks. <br /> As you may be award, the City's Flood Hazard Mitigation Grant Application is currently being <br /> retained by the State of Minnesota's Department of Emergency Management until the city is accepted <br /> into the National Flood Insurance Program. Upon the City's acceptance into the NFIP the Grant <br /> Application will be forwarded to h FNMA for their approval. it is anticipated that the decision to Hand <br /> the City's flood i la7ard Mitigation Project would be made by the end of April, <br /> If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact me at 541-4800. <br /> Iv <br />
