Not that it's right, but I think Woodbury's is twice per day. My thought is
maybe once per hour or V2 hour. Good point to discuss with the commission.
Section 1400.10, Subd 3 (Surface Area) Instead of"Electronic Animated Signs", I would put
"Electric Signs"to be consistent with our definition. I excluded "Animated" as I still would consider
Animated signs to be prohibited. (Section 1400.07 Subd. 15). However, as I think of this issue,
these signs have animation capacity, but we don't want them to animate. This may need to be
addressed.
Also,to be consistent, maybe we should add Subd. 5"Electric Signs having 2 or more copy
surfaces may have up to 32 feet square feet for all surfaces." This is 2 times the single side copy
surface allowance, which is what is allowed in number 2 above. This would in affect limit larger
multisided signs.
With regard to the 16 square foot proposal, maybe we should see the size Walgreens is looking
for so we do not have to look for a variance.
Section 1400.10, Subd,.5 (Design and Location) Let's see if we could substitute 15 foot setback
requirement with another number, maybe 5 or 10 feet so we do not have to give up any more
structure than we have to. We should look to see just where our sign would go and adjust
• accordingly.
Section 1400.06 Subd. 5 (Maintenance) I am not good at wordsmithing here, but should we
consider implementing a requirement to maintain the electronic nature of these signs? In other
words, no burned out light bulbs.
Give me a call at work if you need to discuss. (612-667-8091)
Sorrty this is late. I typed the wrong address in otherwise you would have had this last night.
Donna and Randy Stille
•
