-2- <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Motion by Councilman Letourneau and seconded by Councilman Enrooth <br /> to approve payment' of $1, 418. 55 and $1, 799 .14 to the Dorsey Law Firm <br /> for services during February and March, 1982 . <br /> Motion carried unanimously . <br /> Mayor Sundland read the letter from Tom McMullen, Community Services <br /> Director, expressing his organization's appreciation of the cooperation <br /> the City has always demonstrated towards the Community Services and <br /> reiterating his request that the Council continue its representation <br /> on the Community Services Advisory Committee. The Mayor said he <br /> subscribes to Mr. McMullen' s suggestion that two or three Council <br /> members attend each Committee meeting, as long as there won ' t be a <br /> problem with compliance with the State Open Meeting regulations . <br /> Mr. Soth indicated he sees no problem as long as the meetings are <br /> held on a regular basis and sees no need for publication of the <br /> schedule as long as meetings are open to the public. A tentative <br /> schedule for Council attendance will be recommended by the Mayor <br /> before the first Committee meeting in September. <br /> Chief Hickerson had submitted a proposed press release which would <br /> include St. Anthony with the national observance of Burglary Prevention <br /> Month -during June. He stated that he believes this would provide <br /> the appropriate vehicle for kicking off the City 's Crime Watch Program. <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Letourneau to <br /> proclaim June as Burglary Prevention Month in St. Anthony . <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> The Manager reported it took City crews four weeks and one,7half day <br /> to complete the chipping program for the City this year and he will <br /> recap the costs at the next Council meeting. He then told Councilman <br /> Marks the resurfacing of the Apache Plaza parking lot has commenced <br /> but he hasn' t heard from the St. Anthony Shopping Center as to when <br /> that area's blacktop will be repaired. <br /> Doug Jones , Chairman of the Planning Commission, reported actions taken <br /> and recommendations made by the Commission during their May 18th <br /> meeting as reflected in the minutes of that meeting. <br /> He said the applicants for a variance for a garage addition at 3302 <br /> Belden 'Drive had failed to ,appear at the hearing and the matter .had <br /> been tabled with the recommendation that the Thompson 's be requested ' <br /> to pay the costs of notification of adjoining property owners if <br /> another hearing is scheduled. Mayor Sundland reported Mrs . Thompson <br /> had told him their architect was going to represent them at the hear- <br /> ing.* No action on the variance was deemed necessary. <br /> Mr. Jones read the motions recommending _ the Council approve the <br /> ordinance amendment and Conditional Use Permit concurrently for the <br /> • Tan Me salon proposed for the Apache Plaza Shopping Center. P4ayor <br /> Sundland said this would be a problem since the ordinance hearing had <br /> not been published. The applicant, Keith Grewe , was told by the City <br /> Attorney that, if the ordinance is published this week, the Council <br /> could choose to pass both the amendment and the permit at their <br />
