Regular Council Meeting <br /> May 14, 1991 <br /> page 11 <br /> space. <br /> 2 <br /> The realtor told the City Manager that a corner lot and a singular <br /> site .-was the preference cf the store. The City Manager felt removal <br /> of a home from a residential area would not be well received by <br /> 5 property owners in the area. He will advise the realtor of this <br /> fact. <br /> 9 Councilmember Marks felt the Council should be sensitive to the -gateway <br /> atmosphers that St. Anthony Boulevard projects. <br /> 11 Burt noted that the owner of the single family home has resisted selling <br /> 12 his home and has increased the price as he does not want to sell it <br /> 13 to Walgreen's. The City Manager- felt this issue should be reviewed <br /> i4 .n respect to the Comprehensive Plan. He will bring the request to <br /> 15 1 <br /> 16 the Planning Commission and will request actual sized plans for the <br /> 17 meeting. <br /> is Doug Jones advised the Council that the sites in this area had been <br /> 19 brought before the Planning Commission about ten or twelve years <br /> 20 ago for review. The City Council took no action at that time. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 Burt advised that most of the parcels in the area were identified when <br /> 23 reviewing zoning for the recodification. All of the areas will be <br /> 24 addressed when rezoning is being considered. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 6. Association of Metropolitan Municipalities <br /> 27 The AMM is holding �its annual meeting. The City Manager requested any <br /> 28 Councilmembers who plan to attend the meeting advise him so he can <br /> 29 coordinate the, reservations . Councilmember Enrooth serves on the Board <br /> 30 of the AMM. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 The League of Minnesota Cities sent an Action Alert to the City <br /> 33 regarding a bill being proposed by Senator Luther to require all <br /> 34 local elected officials to freeze the salaries of their non-union <br /> 35 employees and any employees not represented by a bargaining unit. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 7. Water Quality of Silver Lake <br /> 38 Concern for the quality of the water in Silver Lake was on the agenda <br /> 39 of a recent Council work session. It has three cities and three <br /> 40 counties involved as governing entities. Councilmember Enrooth will <br /> J41 follow this matter as an environmental control issue. <br /> 42 <br /> J13 Mayor Ranallo indicated he would like to attend the next Silver <br /> 44 Lake Homeowners ' Association meeting. He knows the City Council is <br /> br, concerned -about the water quality of Silver Lake and it appears to <br /> 46 -be getting worse. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 Doug Jones, who resides on Silver Lake, advised that a brochure is being <br /> 49 distributed to lakeshore owners which cautions them to be aware of <br /> so their treatment of the property and the lake, especially in the use of <br />
