1 TOWN MEETING
2 JANUARY 28 , 1992
3 PAGE 5
4
5
6
7 Mayor Ranallo noted that the industrial park also experiences
8 flooding.
9
10 Resident at 2500 Highway #88 : He felt it was difficult to
11 understand costs for the options when they are stated as total
12 costs . He requested how they would break down per year as well as
13 per. property.
14
15 Palmer said assuming that 3, 000 parcels are involved with the
16 assessment area, the four million dollar project , that of holding
17 ponds strategically located in the City, would probably be $1 , 300
18 per parcel or $2 , 600 per parcel over a ten year assessment period.
19 Flood insurance would be approximately $440 . 00 per year.
20
21 Resident at 2801 St . Anthony Boulevard: He Inquired if the water on
22 29th Avenue could be diverted . Palmer responded that there is not
23 enough capacity in the McKinley Street system to accomplish this
24 effectively. Pipes of increased capacity would only move the
25 problem elsewhere and open up the liabilities .
26
4l7 Palmer restated that there are no guarantees with any of these
8 options .
29
30 Resident at 2701 Pahl : This twenty-seven year resident stated he
31 has a 100% chance of flooding in his intersection. He felt that all
32 of the improvements and projects north of this area have increased
33 the water problems. He has had an on-going problem with water on
34 his property and near his house.
35
36 Mayor Ranal'lo advised that the study is to include surface changes
37 which may have affected water runoff .
3.8
39 A resident from 31st and Silver Lake Road inquired if the pumps on
40 the north end of town are still operational . Hamer advised him
41 -these are sanitary sewer pumps and are not involved with the water
42 problems being addressed at this meeting.
43
44 Resident at 2823 Silver Lake Road: This resident wanted information
45 regarding the depth of holding ponds or dimensions of storage
46 areas .
47
48 Palmer stated that typically these holding ponds would be dry most
49 of the time. Some of them would have pump outlet capabilities Ten
50 to fifteen feet of earth would have to be removed for volume.
51
52 The resident , who built his home thirty-seven years ago on Silver
Lake Road adjacent to the park, recalled that much fill was
4 required before his foundation could be put in as the area was a
