City Council Regular Meeting Minutes March 9, 2004 07 Page 7 1 2 Mayor Hodson noted a copy of the strategic plan would be at the library or City Hall. 3 4 Councilmember Thuesen asked if a copy of the strategic plan would be on line. Mr. Momson 5 responded it was not on line yet. 6 7 Mayor Hodson stated part of the communication process was the involvement of individual 8 residents in the planning meetings. He expressed appreciation for their participation. 9 10 Councilmember Faust noted Mr. Prosser brought the City information regarding its key financial 11 strategies, which allowed the City to make the quantum steps it was taking. He added the City 12 was able to reach its current position because of staff discipline, along with its willingness to 13 listen and act upon Mr. Prosser's recommendations. He thanked Ehlers and Associates for its 14 wisdom and ability to teach those involved. 15 16 Mr. Prosser stated he did have one criticism, which was the tendency of Council not to "pat itself 17 on the back" for the accomplishments of the community. He noted it was important to relay 18 information regarding those accomplishments so residents could understand the value of what 19 was being done, which would make them better sales people for the community. He advised 20 Council to celebrate its successes and suggested cities should publish a stockholder's report 21 similar to that of businesses. 22 23 Mayor Hodson noted one of the suggestions brought by Ehlers and Associates during the goal 24 setting was the arrangement of a town meeting sometime in the future to address the 25 accomplishments made by the community. 26 27 Motion by Councilmember Faust, seconded by Councilmember Thuesen, to accept and adopt the 28 2004 Strategic Plan as.presented by Ehlers and Associates. 29 30 Motion carried unanimously. 31 32 Mr. Mornson noted copies of the strategic plan were not yet in the library and would be on line 33 after its adoption. He added the strategic plan would be presented to the Planning Commission, 34 Park Commission and School Board in April. 35 36 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. 37 City Manager Morrison reported the following: 38 Staff had been meeting frequently with the developer for the Silver Lake project and four 39 events would take place within the next month: 1)Purchase Agreement completed for 40 the new liquor store on 39th Avenue in April; 2) Tires Plus application for a conditional 41 use permit would be on the Planning Commission's March 16, 2004, agenda; 3) the 39th 42 Avenue NE project was progressing, with possible changes to the schedule, a meeting 43 with adjacent property owners scheduled for March 23, 2004, and the related public 44 hearing scheduled for April 27, 2004; 4) the Bulldozer Bash at Apache Plaza was 45 scheduled for March 20, 2004, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
