Regular Council . Meeting <br /> July 31 , 1990 <br /> page 10 <br /> 1 1 . Foss Road Lift Station Discussion <br /> 2 The City Attorney advised this matter should be discussed in an <br /> '. Executive 'Session as it involves possible litigation. The matter <br /> 4 was left until the Council meeting was continued. <br /> 5 <br /> 2. Discussion Regarding Selection of a .Planning Commissioner <br /> 7 The Council received copies of all of the applications submitted <br /> R by parties interested in being considered for appointment to the <br /> 9 Planning Commission. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 All of these applicants have been interviewed by the Council . It <br /> i2 was noted that Councilmember Wagner was not yet appointed to the <br /> 13 Council when these interviews were conducted. <br /> i4 <br /> 15 Councilmember Wagner indicated he could not vote on the basis of <br /> 16 the applications alone and requested input from members of the <br /> 17 Council regarding each applicant. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Mayor Ranallo felt each applicant would make a very good Planning <br /> 20 Commission commissioner. He suggested that if Councilmember Wagner <br /> 21 chose to, he could contact the applicants by phone. <br /> 22 - <br /> 23 Councilmember Makowske questioned a need to interview each applicant <br /> 24 again. Councilmember Enrooth indicated it would have been helpful <br /> 25 if photos of the applicants were made available as it was very <br /> 26 difficult to place a face with a name. <br /> 27 <br /> 78 Mayor Ranallo felt the Council was not prepared to make an appoint- <br /> 29 ment at this meeting and suggested the appointment be made at the <br /> 30 August 14th Council meeting. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 3• Discussion Regarding Tree/Branch Chipping <br /> 33 The City Manager advised it has taken about three weeks to clear <br /> 34 all the debris from the storm. City staff has been using chippers <br /> 35 from Hennepin County and from the City of Roseville. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 The chipping equipment was used on a mutual aid basis, but Hennepin <br /> 38 County has indicated it plans on charging for the use of its chipper. <br /> 39 The City Manager stated he will be contacting Hennepin County Com- <br /> 40 missioner Sivanich regarding these proposed charges. The City of <br /> 41 Roseville stated they do not expect to charge but requested that the <br /> 42 blades of the chipper be sharpened. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 The City Manager noted that there has been considerable frustration <br /> hr, on the part of some of the residents with clearing some of the debris <br /> 46 and disposing of some of the tree branches. He felt that some of <br /> 47 the services offered by the City after the storm were taken advantage <br /> 48 of by some residents .as well as non-residents. <br /> 49 <br /> 50 Some of the material left on the curb by residents contained fencing, <br />
