300. 11 Funeral Leave. In the event of the death of any <br /> employee's spouse, children, parents, brother or sister, or <br /> spouse's parents, the employee will be granted three days of <br /> funeral leave with pay. In the event of the death of an employee's <br /> grandparents or spouse's grandparents, brother or sister, the <br /> employee will be granted one day of funeral leave with pay. <br /> 300. 12 Military Leave. <br /> Subd. 1. Employees ordered by proper authority to National <br /> Guard or Reserve military service not exceeding fifteen days <br /> in any calendar year shall be entitled to leave of absence <br /> without loss of status. Such employees shall receive <br /> compensation from the employer equal to the difference between <br /> their regular pay rate and their lesser military pay. <br /> Subd. 2 . Employees called and ordered by proper authority to <br /> active military service in time of war or other properly <br /> declared emergency shall be entitled to leave of absence <br /> without pay during such service. Upon completion of such <br /> service, employees shall be entitled to the same or similar <br /> employment of like seniority, status, and pay as if such leave <br /> had not been taken, subject to the specific provisions of <br /> Chapter 192 of the Minnesota Statutes. <br /> 300. 13 Bone Marrow Donation Leave Minnesota Statute 181.945 <br /> provides an employer must grant paid leaves of absence to an <br /> employee (who works an average of 20 or more hours per week) who <br /> seeks to undergo a medical procedure to donate bone marrow. The <br /> combined length of the leaves shall be determined .by the employee, <br /> but may not exceed 40 work hours. The employer may require <br /> verification by a physician of the purpose and length of each <br /> requested leave by the employee to donate bone marrow. If there is <br /> a medical determination that the employee does not qualify as a <br /> bone marrow donor, the paid leave of absence granted to the <br /> employee prior to that medical determination is not forfeited. <br /> 300.. 14 School, Conference and Activities Leave. A full time <br /> employee who has worked for the City for at least one year may be <br /> granted up to 16 hours of unpaid leave during the school year to <br /> attend school conferences or classroom activities for his/her <br /> children, if these activities cannot be scheduled during non- <br /> working hours. If the employee chooses, he/she may use accrued <br /> vacation time to attend school events. The employee must-give the <br /> City at least 5 days notice of the intent to use this leave. <br /> 3-8 <br />
