She stated she would like to leave this evening knowing 3 that something would be done. 4 Kim Bloom stated she lives by the park and all the water from the football area comes into 5 her yard. Her backyard and garage are flooded. This happened in the fall of last year, the 6 spring of this year and again on July 1. 7 Mayor Ranallo suggested a task force be organized to include residents of different sectors of 8 the City. He also explained that the ponds at Apache Plaza are not holding ponds, they 9 merely filter the water before it drains to Silver Lake. 10 Wagner asked if the solution of holding ponds could be accomplished in different areas of the 11 City with the removal of only a few homes in each area.of the City. 12 Mr. Palmer stated the 1992 study focused on the problem south of 33rd Avenue, district #6. 13 That solution did not include removal of any homes but did include the removal of a small 14 shopping center for location of one pond and also a significant portion of the trailer park 15 property for a second pond. The large pond in the trailer court would be 14 acre foot of 16 storage or approximately 5 acres of land. • 17 Morrison stated that the City would be required to relocate residents of the trailer park if a 18 pond was put in the trailer park. 19 Mr. Palmer stated the residents would have to be relocated and that cost was not included in 20 his cost figure. 21 William Soth, City Attorney, stated there could be relocation payment costs involved as well 22 as the costs of purchasing the homes. 23 Ms. Maxwell asked what the plans were for the property that was being purchased by the City 24 on Kenzie Terrace. She suggested that other cities have water problems and they work them 25 out. Action is needed on this issue because this could wipe out the City of St. Anthony. 26 Faust noted that Mr. Palmer had stated that even the $6 million plan would not have 27 alleviated some of the problems which resulted from the 3.5 inch rain. This issue needs to be 28 thought through so the money is well spent. He agreed that a task force was needed to 29 address this situation. 30 Mr. Jacobs stated that a lot of residents do not understand what a big problem this is. 31 Faust agreed that it will require an education process. It may be difficult to convince others • 32 who are not affected.
