• Regional Parks and/or Metropolitan Council
• Non-profit to operate the site with funding from other groups
• Holding property hostage (i.e. specify to property developer certain % of space and
usage)
• Holding company (in order to buy time)
There were several apparent issues that sparked conversation both in
and out of the small groups that resulted from the discussions of purchase.
They are as follows:
—Timing and Process,
—Scope and Environmental Impact study
—`rIF'Is it viable?
—Cost to individual household
—loss of control over land and usage
—What's the cost of not doing anything?
At the end of the meeting Dr. William Carr asked to address the
group. As a resident as well as member of the camp board, he spoke of the
uniqueness of the land, the camp and its history, and his personal
observations about the Salvation Army property board. It was agreed by all
that this opportunity is still somewhat uncertain and that more
communication is needed between the Salvation Army and possible
purchasers such as the City of St. Anthony and the School District. The
Mayor concluded the meeting by thanking the participants for their time
and their ideas, and promised to keep everyone informed as new
information is gained. The.meeting adjourned at 9:30 PM.
