Councilman Marks said he <br /> believes the residents who spoke .at the Commission meeting don' t <br /> really understand that it has never been the City' s intention to <br /> put low cost housing on that site and pointed out that the 25 foot <br /> embankments , mentioned by Mr. Sopcinski , could actually be advantageous <br /> as a buffer for the development. <br /> The Council will await further recommendations from the Commission <br /> following a report from the City Manager about discussions with the <br /> planners regarding the feasibility of a lower density development <br /> of the site. . <br /> Mr. Sopcinski said the proposal for the gazebo on the Dougherty <br /> property at 3101 Armour Terrace will be returned to the Commission <br /> with revisions recommended by the Commission regarding the side <br /> yard setbacks necessary for the project and the Council will be kept <br /> • informed as to the developments regarding the improvements mandated <br /> by the remodeling plans for the beauty shop at 3909 Silver Lake Road. <br /> There was a discussion of the Commission' s efforts to encourage <br /> Minneapolis to enforce bettersignage standards for the Champion <br /> Auto center across Stinson Boulevard from St. Anthony residences <br /> and Mr. Sopcinski expressed the Commission' s appreciation of Mr. <br /> Berg' s efforts to keep them apprised of seminars which could prove <br /> to be helpful to them. <br /> When the Commission representative commented on the exchange between <br /> himself and the Council regarding the Dane,lski project, the Mayor <br /> told him she appreciates the time , effort and insights he provides <br /> in his service on the Commission. <br /> She then suggested both Commission and .Council members might find <br /> the Metropolitan Council ' s conference "Where Will the Children Live?" <br /> very timely as related to the City ' s current redevelopment proposals . <br /> Mr. Soth pointed out several typographical errors in Ordinance 1981-009 <br /> which should be corrected before the next reading, including sub- <br /> stituting "Section 310" for "Section 310 :00" and "be" for "by" in <br /> the second line of reference to Section 310 :35 on page 2 . <br /> Motion .by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Sundland to <br /> approve the second reading of Ordinance 1981-009 with changes rec- <br /> • ommended by the City Attorney. <br />
