District #282 chose to combine classes <br /> with Mounds View because that city offers. a more- comprehensive program <br /> • with 200 classes, as compared - to 5.0 by Columbia Heights . Mr. McMullen <br /> reported a large increase in the number of softball teams which have <br /> signed up this- year and said he hopes the .fine one of the teams had <br /> to pay for a violation of the beer ordinance will prove to be a deterrent <br /> to the other groups . Copies of the article reporting the "All Class <br /> Reunion" which is to be sponsored by the Community Services in October <br /> were distributed -and Mr. McMullen. reported the event is anticipated <br /> to draw large .crowds of students , graduates , their families and friends <br /> of the St. Anthony High School . <br /> Dick Johnson will serve as the. new chairman of the Community Services <br /> Advisory Committee, according to Mr. McMullen and he requested the <br /> Council continue its practice of having a representative of the <br /> Council serve in an advisory capacity . The appointment will be' formal- <br /> ized at the next .Council meeting. <br /> Fred Ossanna III , Vice President and General Manager of Sunset Memorial <br /> Park Association presented his organization 's request to construct a <br /> new roadway parallel to the Burlington Northern railroad tracks in <br /> conjunctionwith the new bridge over the railroad tracks . He said <br /> closing the gates to the cemetery at Highway 88 and St. Anthony Boulevard <br /> and. provi-sion of a new entrance when the roadway is completed should <br /> alleviate a serious traffic problem with funeral processions in the <br /> past. He verified- that Sunset is willing to pay all extra administra- <br /> tive and legal costs which are incurred. Mr. Hamer and Mr. Campbell <br /> • presented the site plans for the roadway for which they believe only <br /> concept approval is necessary before the. bids are opened for the bridge <br /> on May 20th.. The Public Works Director assured the Council that there <br /> will be ample time for the City Attorney to contact the railroad <br /> regarding the safety element and to ascertain this proposal will not <br /> violate any previous agreement with them related to the rebuilding of <br /> the St. Anthony Bouelvard bridge . He said the City has already pur- <br /> chased the right-of-way from. the railroad and outlined the manner in <br /> which the City could be reimbursed for the costs . <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Ranallo to table <br /> action on the Sunset Memorial Park request for a St. Anthony Boulevard <br /> Bridge underpass until the Council 's May 25th meeting. <br /> Motion- carried unanimously. <br /> Mr. Campbell indicated the proposed changes in the storm sewer con- <br /> struction planned in conjunction with'-the proposed rebuilding of County <br /> Road .D should pose no problem for the City because the new connections <br /> with the City ' s Chandler Drive and Highcrest Road lines will have less <br /> capacity than the City 's system at those points . Mr. Hamer reported <br /> his input to Ramsey County 's planning had cut the City 's costs but he <br /> anticipates the costs will be greater for- the Hennepin County portion <br /> of the proposal . <br /> Motion by Councilman Ranallo and seconded by Councilman Letourneau to <br /> • approve as, submitted the storm sewer plans for the proposed recon- <br /> struction of County Road D. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br />
