The Chief's January 8th recommendation related to the purchase of a used vehicle for investigative work by his department was moved up on the agenda for a dis- cussion of .his proposal . Motion by Councilmember. Marks and seconded by Councilmember. Ranallo. to authorize the purchase of the 1985-Olds Ciera from Rosedale Chevrolet for $7,800 to be funded as per the recommendations from Police Chief Hickerson. Motion carried unanimously. The Manager reported he would be meeting the next day with City of New Brighton representatives and Tom Kalitowski , Director of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to discuss further action related to the two cities ' water contamination problems. Childs had also distributed copies of the request from the MPCA that the federal Environmental Protection Agency fund a study of alternative water sources for the City in response to the directive from the Minnesota State Health Department that such a study be made. He said if the study is funded by EPA, the same firm would be doing the City's study who are contractors on the main study the EPA is doing right now of the Army's offsite contamination, which would save the City from having to take action before EPA approval is granted, as New Brighton had been forced to do. • The.
