Regular Council Meeting <br /> January 22, 1991 <br /> page 5 <br /> • 1 Council is exhibiting restraint in that in previous years .two members <br /> 2 of the Council attended the Conference. The Mayor considers the Con- <br /> ference very valuable and worthwhile. <br /> 4 <br /> r5 Councilmember Enrooth felt the "cut cut" mentality should not be <br /> used to stop the operation of the City and that this Conference <br /> -, should be taken advantage of by Councilmember Wagner. <br /> P <br /> 9 1 . Reappointment of Planning Commission Commissioner <br /> 10 Motion by Marks, second by Ranallo to reappoint John Madden to the <br /> 11 Planning Commission. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Motion carried unanimously <br /> is <br /> i42. Appointment of New Planning Commissioner <br /> 15 It was noted that the applications received for consideration for <br /> 17 appointment to the Planning Commission were from very qualified <br /> 18 people. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Motion by Ranallo, second by Fleming to appoint Jim Gondorchin to a <br /> 21 three year term on the Planning Commission. <br /> 22 <br /> 3 It was noted that Mr. Gondorchin has been serving on the Road Task <br /> 23 <br /> Force and it was hoped by Councilmember he would continue to serve <br /> 25 in this capacity. <br /> 2 <br /> 277 Motion carried unanimously <br /> ' <br /> 7.8 <br /> �9 B. City Manager's Report <br /> 30 1 . Proposed Cutbacks <br /> 31 . <br /> 32 The City Manager met with members of the Association of Metropolitan <br /> Municipalities regarding the proposed cutbacks in Local Government <br /> 33 33 <br /> Aids and other funding for cities. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 At the present time, the City of'St. Anthony is expecting a cutback of <br /> 36 <br /> 37 approximately 2.05% which amounts to $40,000. He has received the <br /> 38 department heads reports and noted that the City had lost approximately <br /> 39 the same amount of funding last year. <br /> 40 2. Vandalism in the Building <br /> 41 The 'City Manager gave examples of vandalism recently experienced in the <br /> 2 <br /> 42 <br /> 4 Community Building. He noted that most of it took place on weekends and <br /> 44 felt it was due to improper supervision on youths in the building. <br /> 46 Presently, the City Manager is having the building re-keyed and has given <br /> 47 instructions for gates in the building to be in place and locked. His <br /> 8 aim is to have no access to city offices during usage of other parts <br /> 4 <br /> 448 of the building. He advised groups who use the building of the pro- <br /> 9 hibitions being put into place regarding other parts of the -building. <br /> • <br />
