1 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING <br /> APRIL 14 , 1992 <br /> PAGE -12 <br /> 4 Motion by Marks , second by Enrooth to close the Public <br /> 5 Hearing at 8 : 30 p.m. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Motion by Marks , second by Wagner to approve Resolution <br /> 10 No. 92-024 being a resolution approving projected use of <br /> ll funds for year XVII of the Urban Hennepin County <br /> 12 Community Developmemt Block Grant- Program. ' <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 15 <br /> 16 9 . NEW BUSINESS <br /> 17 <br /> 18 A. Appointment of Planning Commissioner <br /> 19 <br /> 20 The Mayor advised that there were two applicants for the <br /> 21 Planning Commission vacancy. They were both interviewed <br /> 22 by the City Council . <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Motion by Fleming, second by Wagner to appoint George <br /> 25 Thompson to the vacancy on the Planning Commission. <br /> 26 <br /> Motion carried unanimously <br /> 9 Mayor Ranallo noted that Thompson was a long time <br /> 30 resident of St . Anthony and has a record of active <br /> 31 participation in affairs of the City. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Councilmember Marks was requested to contact Thompson to <br /> 34 encourage him to attend a Planning Commission training <br /> 35 session. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 Staff was requested to send a letter to the other <br /> 38 applicant advising him of an environmental commission <br /> 39 which may soon be forming in the City. . It was the opinion <br /> 40 of some of Councilmembers that he could bring <br /> 41 considerable expertise and knowledge to this type of <br /> 42 commission. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 The Mayor requested staff to schedule a joint work <br /> 45 session between the City Council and the Planning <br /> 46 Commission with the purpose of getting better acquainted. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 Councilmember Marks recalled that originally' the <br /> 49 Volunteer Meeting only included those who served on the <br /> 50 City Council and on the Planning Commission and was not. <br /> 51 a dinner . <br /> 52 <br /> The City Manager noted that the June work session will <br /> 04 include plans. for the south end of the City and the <br />
