City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> • June 23, 1998 <br /> Page 21 <br /> 1 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 2 <br /> 3 B. Councilmembers. <br /> 4 Faust reported his attendance at the League of Minnesota Annual Conference in Duluth, <br /> 5 Minnesota with Cavanaugh. He stated this was'a very rewarding conference and he encouraged <br /> 6 others to attend. He noted that Dick Beardsley, marathon runner, had given a heart rendering <br /> 7 presentation on goals and attitudes. <br /> 8 Cavanaugh reported his attendance at a Northwest Family Services Board meeting which was <br /> 9 basically devoted to organizational discussion. <br /> 10 Cavanaugh reported his attendance at the League of Minnesota Cities conference. He suggested <br /> 11 that the entire Council attend the meeting as a team. He stated he really enjoyed two seminars, <br /> 12 one on volunteers in the community and another on implementing community for youth. There <br /> 13 were a tremendous amount of vendor booths with current ideas and products. <br /> 14 Cavanaugh reported the next meeting of the Alcohol and Drug Prevention Task Force is <br /> 15 scheduled for Monday, June 29. He has been asked to co-chair this Task Force along with Jane <br /> �16 Eckert, School Boardmember. <br /> 'T7 Motion by Marks, second by Faust, to appoint Dennis Cavanaugh as the Council representative <br /> 18 to the Alcohol and Drug Prevention Task Force. <br /> 19 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 20 Cavanaugh invited the community to participate in this meeting on June 29 at 7:30 P.M. at City <br /> 21 Hall. <br /> 22 Marks reported the Sister City Committee continues to work on finalizing the establishment of a <br /> 23 501(c)(3) organizational structure. <br /> 24 C. Mayor. <br /> 25 Mayor Ranallo reported a call he received from the residents across the street from the Exhaust <br /> 26 Pro Shop. This business was granted a Conditional Use Permit a couple years ago and it was <br /> 27 based on the condition that no more than two-three cars would be parked on site. The business <br /> 28 has since.been sold to another owner and he is renting trucks and trailers. The City Manager will <br /> 29 be investigating to determine if the site is in compliance with the conditions of the conditional <br /> 30 use permit in regard to the vehicular traffic and the cleaning up of the property to bring it into <br /> 31 compliance, including blacktopping and landscaping. <br /> 32 <br /> Mayor Ranallo noted that one year ago the Planning Commission report was moved from the <br /> 104 second Council meeting of the month to the first. He stated this can present a problem as the <br /> 35 Council does not always have the minutes from the Planning Commission meeting. <br />
