City Council Regular Meeting Minutes • June 23, 1998 Page 21 1 Motion carried unanimously. 2 3 B. Councilmembers. 4 Faust reported his attendance at the League of Minnesota Annual Conference in Duluth, 5 Minnesota with Cavanaugh. He stated this was'a very rewarding conference and he encouraged 6 others to attend. He noted that Dick Beardsley, marathon runner, had given a heart rendering 7 presentation on goals and attitudes. 8 Cavanaugh reported his attendance at a Northwest Family Services Board meeting which was 9 basically devoted to organizational discussion. 10 Cavanaugh reported his attendance at the League of Minnesota Cities conference. He suggested 11 that the entire Council attend the meeting as a team. He stated he really enjoyed two seminars, 12 one on volunteers in the community and another on implementing community for youth. There 13 were a tremendous amount of vendor booths with current ideas and products. 14 Cavanaugh reported the next meeting of the Alcohol and Drug Prevention Task Force is 15 scheduled for Monday, June 29. He has been asked to co-chair this Task Force along with Jane �16 Eckert, School Boardmember. 'T7 Motion by Marks, second by Faust, to appoint Dennis Cavanaugh as the Council representative 18 to the Alcohol and Drug Prevention Task Force. 19 Motion carried unanimously. 20 Cavanaugh invited the community to participate in this meeting on June 29 at 7:30 P.M. at City 21 Hall. 22 Marks reported the Sister City Committee continues to work on finalizing the establishment of a 23 501(c)(3) organizational structure. 24 C. Mayor. 25 Mayor Ranallo reported a call he received from the residents across the street from the Exhaust 26 Pro Shop. This business was granted a Conditional Use Permit a couple years ago and it was 27 based on the condition that no more than two-three cars would be parked on site. The business 28 has since.been sold to another owner and he is renting trucks and trailers. The City Manager will 29 be investigating to determine if the site is in compliance with the conditions of the conditional 30 use permit in regard to the vehicular traffic and the cleaning up of the property to bring it into 31 compliance, including blacktopping and landscaping. 32 Mayor Ranallo noted that one year ago the Planning Commission report was moved from the 104 second Council meeting of the month to the first. He stated this can present a problem as the 35 Council does not always have the minutes from the Planning Commission meeting.
