City Council Regular Meeting Minutes
• June 23, 1998
Page 22
1 Faust noted the decision to make this change was based on the desire to better accommodate the
2 applicant.
3 Morrison stated he would check with TimeSaver Secretarial to determine if the minutes could be
4 delivered to the City in time to allow the Councilmembers to pick them up by the weekend.
5
6 D. Ci , Manager.
7 Morrison noted that when the Council approved the underground storage tank removal, the
8 recommendation included everything except for the removal of the fuel tanks as there was not
9 enough funds in the budget. The tanks do not have to be removed until 1999, but the Finance
10 Director is recommending that the $9,404 needed to remove the tanks be funded from the
11 existing Revolving Fund's Fund Balance, based on the fact that the City has the funds now and it
12 is uncertain what the cost will be next year.
13 There was Council consensus that the Memorandum of June 22, 1998 from the Finance Director
14 was taken into consideration and his recommendations were accepted as proposed.
15 Morrison reported that the Park Commission application period closed today and six applications
16 were received for seven positions. The interview process will be conducted on June 29 at 7:00
P.M.
18 Morrison reported that the survey being conducted by Decision Resources is still going well
19 although they are having a difficult time finding residents at home due to all the activities of
20 summer.
21 Morrison reported the City has filled a vacant accounting position in the Finance Department.
22 The new employee will begin on July 13. The City has also received the resignation of the
23 Public Works Superintendent.
24 Morrison noted that at the last meeting he reported that the Metropolitan Council was delaying
25 approval of the Comprehensive Plan until the Council adopted a resolution which states their
26 intent to adopt a Surface Water Management Ordinance. Morrison reported he had a meeting
27 with the representative today and the representative will be sending a letter explaining why they
28 will delay approval.
29 Morrison reported the Surface Water Management Ordinance and the Comprehensive Water
30 Management Plan(which was tabled tonight), are required prior to final adoption of the
31 Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is required by law to be adopted by December
32 31, 1998 and the hearing on the Comprehensive Plan will be held by the City Council in August
33 or September.
0 Cavanaugh suggested that the Silver Lake Homeowners Association should be involved in
35 discussions regarding the Surface Water Management Ordinance.
