Mornson responded that most of the cities combined the two meetings, but it <br /> 3 depended upon the growth and size of the suburb. <br /> 4 Motion by Horst to set the Board of Review meeting for April 11, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. in conjunc- <br /> 5 tion with the regular City Council meeting. <br /> 6 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 7 B. Ordinance 2000-001, re: Alcohol Compliance Check(1st readine). <br /> 8 Cavanaugh explained that Ordinance 2000-001 relates to the revocation or suspension of liquor <br /> 9 licenses, amending Section 1000.06, Subd. 4 of the 1993 St. Anthony Code of Ordinance. He <br /> 10 further stated that the purpose behind the Ordinance is that the Community Prevention Coalition <br /> 11 that works with alcohol prevention is sponsored by a grant. As part of the grant requirements, it <br /> 12 is mandatory that the City perform alcohol checks to ensure businesses are complying the laws <br /> 13 related with underage consumption. <br /> 14 Motion by Sparks to approve Ordinance 2000-001, an Ordinance Relating to the Revocation or <br /> Suspension of Liquor Licenses, Amending Section 1000.06, Subd. 4 of the 1993 St. Anthony <br /> Code of Ordinances. <br /> 17 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 18 Cavanaugh requested City Manager Mornson to prepare an Ordinance regarding the procedure <br /> 19 for instituting and implementing compliance checks. <br /> 20 C. Resolution 00-014, re: Lease Agreement for Charitable Gambling at the Stonehouse. <br /> 21 Cavanaugh introduced John Fabian of the St. Anthony Sports Boosters and invited him to <br /> 22 address the Council. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 Mr. Fabian stated that the Resolution would authorize the Sports Boosters to continue with the <br /> 25 charitable gambling held at the Stonehouse. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Horst expressed his understanding that the charitable contributions are controlled by the Lions <br /> 28 Club and the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Fabian responded that understanding was correct, and <br /> 29 continued by stating that in the past year, an amount in excess of$120,000 was donated to vari- <br /> 30 ous organizations as a result. <br /> 31 Motion by Sparks to approve Resolution 00-014, wherein the City Council of the City of St. <br /> Anthony hereby approves the Lease made by the St. Anthony Sports Boosters to conduct pull-tab <br /> 46 activity relating to charitable gambling at the Stonehouse, a municipal-owned liquor establish- <br /> 34 ment, 2700 Highway 88, located within the City of St. Anthony. <br />
