City Council Regular Meeting Minutes September 12, 2000 • Page 10 1 Morrison noted that there would be-consultants available at the joint meeting to present the pro- 2 posal in detail as well as a financial=consultant to discuss the impact to the City regarding the 3 funding. Mornson said he believed that construction was anticipated to begin in the spring of 4 2001, with the project being a two-year commitment. 5 Horst acknowledged that the total figure exceeded his anticipated estimates by about$600,000. 6 Thuesen was able to explain some issues to Horst since he had attended the Parks Commission 7 meeting on September 11, 2000; however, he noted that some of the issues would be better pre- 8 sented by the Parks Commission and their consultants. 9 Hodson noted his opinion that he is comfortable with the figures and plan presented. He has 10 spoken with the Parks Commission Chair, and having coached soccer for many years,he noted 11 that Ted Severson(who spoke earlier)had brought up some significant points for consideration. 12 Thuesen would like to see the project--as approved by the Council -- go forward as soon as pos- 13 sible, and as far as funding, he will be anxious to hear from the City's consultants about the im- 14 pact the funding will have on the City. Cavanaugh felt that the issue needed to be brought to the public's attention as the dollar figure 16 presented is quite high. However,the go-ahead needed to be made by the end of the year so that 17 the two-year time frame can begin. He noted ihat this is a preliminary pass and he would like 18 for the community to know about the project., 19 X. REPORTS FROM COMMISSIONS AND STAFF. 20 None. 21 XI. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. 22 There will be a regional meeting held at the Sheraton on September 28, 2000 and he invited the 23 Councilmembers to attend. 24 On the last newsletter, a garbage hauler's survey was included. The results have been received 25 (over 200) and it was about 50-50 that the residents choose their own hauler, or the Village 26 chooses one hauler. The results will be placed back in the newsletter. 27 There has been a request from residents to do'an electronic payment of utility bills and a survey 28 will be performed on that issue. 29 Regarding a web page, the City will'-retain a consultant on a trial basis to add the minutes and 0 other issues on the web page in October. .i
