However, he said he would continue <br /> 14 to serve on the Board and would chair its Personnel Committee. The <br /> 15 Councilmember then discussed all the areas into which the Bureau's <br /> 16 service had grown since he had become involved, including conferences <br /> 17 on teen suicide, the occult, drug and family problems as well as <br /> 18 establishment of mental health clinics for area .youth. <br /> 19 Mayor Reports Fund Raising Efforts to Pay for St. Anthony Civic <br /> 20 Orchestra Visit to City's Sister City, Salo, Finland <br /> 21 Mayor Sundland indicated he was deeply involved in the raising of at <br /> 22 least $45,000 for the project to start with and indicated he was going <br /> 23 to arrange a meeting with the Finnish Consulate while he and • <br /> 24 Councilmembers Marks and Ranallo are in Washington, D.C. for the March <br /> 25 National League of Cities Conference. <br /> 26 NLC Conference Necessitates Change of Council Meeting from March 14th <br /> 27 to March 7th <br /> 28 Reference to the above was made during the discussion of the Conference <br /> 29 during which time Councilmember Marks reported his appointment to the <br /> 30 Human Development Steering Committee. <br /> 31 DEPARTMENTS AND COMMITTEES REPORTS <br /> 32 The February 16th report from the Hance & LeVahn law firm reporting <br /> 33 cases the City prosecutors had handled in Hennepin County District Court <br /> 34 up to February 15, 1989, was ordered filed after Councilmember Makowske <br /> 35 had commented that she hadn't liked seeing the report under the Pre- <br /> 36 trials before Judge Minenko that several DWI charges had been reduced <br /> 37 to careless driving. Mayor Sundland indicated it probably didn't make <br /> 38 that much difference since the policy seems to be to suspend most of the <br /> 39 DWI sentences anyway. <br /> 40 CITY MANAGER REPORTS <br /> 8 • <br />
